Frigidaire refrigerator (1939)
From RetroTech, the online museum of 20th century technology.
In 1939, Frigidaire introduced this refrigerator, claimed to be the world’s first “cold-wall” refrigerator. With the introduction of this model, the refrigerator has taken on its recognizably modern form, although the freezer compartment is not yet fully separated; instead, it is accessed from within the refrigeration compartment.
General Motors manufactured this refrigerator in Dayton, Ohio, and sold this one and thousands of others just like it under the Frigidaire brand name.
